Whether it’s the intricate acoustic guitar accompaniment, the powerful baritone voice or the well-crafted down-home lyricism that has gathered audiences for nearly 10 years, one thing is for sure; Eric Richards has people listening. Having spun a sonic web that clings to the acoustic innocence of James Taylor, yet captures a poignancy that recalls Townes Van Zandt, Eric Richards is emerging as a new face in Minnesota country music.
After releasing his self-titled debut EP in 2008, Richards adopted an active performance schedule featuring over 200 dates a year. Recent venues include the Northrop Auditorium in MPLS, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and 2008 RNC convention in the Twin Cities. Aside from numerous live performances Eric has a accrued a host of television and radio appearances including WCCO television news and Duluth’s own 95.7 KDALFM “The Bridge.” While currently working on material for his first full length album slated for a early 2010 release, Eric can be found onstage 6 nights a week performing as guitarist/vocalist in the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres production of Always…Patsy Cline.
